Magnus Johnson
Magnus Johnson is since 2012 an Associate Professor at the department of Chemistry at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden. He obtained his PhD degree in 2005 at KTH in the field of atmospheric corrosion studied with vibrational spectroscopy. After graduating he was a postdoctoral fellow studying polymers with nonlinear laser spectroscopy at the Max-Planck Institute for Metals Research in Stuttgart, Germany. In 2007 he became an Assistant Professor at the department of Chemistry at KTH, and in 2017 he performed a sabbatical at Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich, Germany, working with nanoscale infrared spectroscopy.
His research focuses on vibrational spectroscopy and mainly nanoscale infrared spectroscopy and the surface specific technique Vibrational sum frequency spectroscopy.
Current research projects include:
- The morphology of nanocellulose and cellulose fibers on the nano level.
- Cellulose-water interactions.
- The nanoscale distribution of cellulose, lignin, and hemicellulose in wood cell walls.
- The atmospheric corrosion of copper protected by ultrathin organic films.
- The molecular structure of model cell membranes.
